  • Fix avatar not closing the Relto book upon link-in to Relto.
  • Fix erroneous KI “blackbar” handles appearing on ultrawide resolutions.
  • Fix erroneous whitespace prepended to Age names in the Nexus.
  • Fix issue with unicode characters crashing the login dialog.
  • Fix the “Bill” Visitor issue in the StartUp Age.
  • Fix potential hang when connecting to an Age during the Link.

  • Restore link to Cyan’s Guild of Messengers Pub in Nexus.
  • Lecture errant subsystems.

January 2020 All Guilds Meeting Summary https://guildofmessengers.org/2020/01/04/agm-january-2020/ https://guildofmessengers.org/2020/01/04/agm-january-2020/#respond Sun, 05 Jan 2020 01:34:48 +0000 https://guildofmessengers.org/?p=1253 2020 has arrived…and with it, the first All Guilds Meeting of the year! Here are the usual raw and cleansed chatlogs.

Here’s what happened:

Cavern Tours

CT Hostess Susa’n and Mirphak were first to the stage to announce a new round of Cavern Tours. The first tour will be on January 11th, 2020 starting at 11:00 KI time and ending around 13:00 KI time, with each tour taking place on the second Saturday of each month after that.

For more information visit the thread over on the Myst Online forums.

OpenUru

rarified came up next to talk about fan content testing. Doobes’ Guild of Messengers Pub is now working sufficiently. However, his fan library Age, Timel Korvahkh (formerly Chiso Preniv) is causing the client to crash. His goal is to find and fix the bug.

It was also mentioned that Doobes would be taking on admin duties for Minkata in the near future.

The Ages of Doobes

Doobes updated everyone on his own projects. While rarified figures out what’s causing the Minkata crash, Doobes plans to release the three planned Ages on to other shards, including Gehn Shard, The Open Cave, and Deep Island.

All three Ages (the GoMe Pub, Timel Korvahkh, and Veelay Tsahvahn) will be the first public releases to be exported by Korman and will eventually be available for both online and offline play. He’s hoping to release them before or around the upcoming tenth anniversary of MOULa and eighth anniversary of Gehn Shard next month.

For more on Doobes’ Ages, visit his site and Facebook page.

MOULa Tenth Anniversary Celebrations

Speaking of MOULa’s anniversary, Minasunda described the upcoming festivities, which are planned to take place between February 6th through the 9th.

To see the most up-to-date list of events, check the associated forum thread.

D’ni Language Classes

shokhootahn Rehn had two items of business, the first being D’ni Language Classes.

Now that the holiday break is over, classes will be back in session. There are available times on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays starting at 20:00 KI time.

For more information, visit the Guild of Instructors’ Hood and check the posts on the imager to the left of the Link in area. If they’re online, you can also contact Magic Bot (#27527) or Mimi Bot (#71459) and PM advert.

Story Night

r’Tayrtahn’s Story Night continues through the stories of the D’ni Kings, from Ri’neref to Kerath.

The stories are hosted every Saturday night at 23:30 KI time (with people starting to gather around 23:00).

For European explorers, Story Night takes place on Saturday at 14:00 KI time…unless there’s an All Guilds Meeting, in which case the story will take place after the AGM.

As always, gather in Tsahno’s Hood beforehand and be sure to have voice chat enabled.

And that’s all for this month! The next All Guilds Meeting will be on February 1st at 13:00 KI time in Kirel!

Guild of Writers Releases Korman 0.08 https://guildofmessengers.org/2019/02/02/gow-korman-008/ https://guildofmessengers.org/2019/02/02/gow-korman-008/#comments Sat, 02 Feb 2019 16:07:30 +0000 https://guildofmessengers.org/?p=554 Yesterday, the Guild of Writers released the first new version of Korman for 2019, and the Age exporting plugin has received quite the overhaul! With “80 commits and approximately 5,500 lines of code changed from the previous version”, 0.08 represents the most streamlined Korman yet.

Changes in this release:

  • Added support for image Environment Maps
  • Added the ability to compile and package age Python scripts
  • Added the ability to copy/paste Plasma Modifiers
  • Added the ability to export an age as a ZIP archive
  • Changed the Swim Surface modifier to allow non-flat geometry
  • Fixed an issue in which Blender would crash when a blend file needed to be unloaded (eg by using undo)
  • Fixed an issue in which lightmapped objects that share a material would not be lightmapped correctly
  • Fixed an issue in which the exporter would leave behind node trees with a user count of zero
  • Fixed an issue in which the “Preview Lightmap” feature would change the active layer selection
  • Fixed a memory leak in the bump map exporter
  • Optimized texture exporting
  • Reorganized the Journal modifier to accept text notes for journal contents and produce the correct journal data on export
  • Reorganized the Lightmap modifier for easier management of object bake passes
  • Reorganized the Plasma Game storage to be an addon setting instead of a blend file setting

Those who have used previous versions of Korman may find a lot to get used to, but there are plans in the works to overhaul the corresponding wiki articles to accommodate changes.

You can read the full release forum topic by clicking here.

Keep checking back here for more Age building news!

URU: Complete Chronicles Patch Beta 1.1.4 https://guildofmessengers.org/2019/01/10/uru-complete-chronicles-patch-beta-1-1-4/ https://guildofmessengers.org/2019/01/10/uru-complete-chronicles-patch-beta-1-1-4/#respond Thu, 10 Jan 2019 15:29:51 +0000 http://guildofmessengers.org/?p=407 For the first time in many years, Cyan has released a new patch for URU: Complete Chronicles! While the patch doesn’t add new content per se, it does fix a few annoying bugs that cropped up with Windows 10 and added HD support.

To quote Chogon’s forum post:

1) Version displayed in the title of the game window (if in windowed mode)
2) Win10 Cursor fix (from Adam Johnson and Joseph Davies)
3) HD resolution support (16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratio resolutions).
4) DirectMusic disabled

To download the patch, simply click here. Be sure to back up your installation before attempting the patch!

For further updates from Cyan, be sure to check back here!

We’re Back (Again)! https://guildofmessengers.org/2019/01/05/were-back-again/ https://guildofmessengers.org/2019/01/05/were-back-again/#respond Sat, 05 Jan 2019 20:10:26 +0000 http://guildofmessengers.org/?p=229

Shorah and salutations to one and all!

As you can see, we’re back up and running at our new website, guildofmessengers.org! Be sure to change your bookmarks too, as the old site (guildofmessengers.com) is no longer valid…although if you’ve been by there lately, that’s quite obvious.

So why the new domain, you may ask?  A few reasons:

  1. We let the ownership of the old domain lapse. It has been passed around by previous Messengers (such as Leonardo and Lyrositor) as previous owners moved on to other things. Due to inactivity and lack of interest, nobody picked it back up when it was for sale again. As such, an unrelated party snapped it up and now uses it to advertise some sort of gambling nonsense. So if you thought we’d ventured into more seedy territory with that, we’re happy to report that’s not the case!
  2. The “org” extension brings us more in-line with other Myst-related websites, such as our friends at the Guild of Writers. Plus, it was available, so that didn’t hurt either.
  3. As the previous site was not backed up and had to be rebuilt again from scratch, a completely fresh start was needed. While Leonardo is still graciously hosting the first site here, the second site only exists in the web archive, which can be hit or miss as far as content retention.

The older sites were also more geared towards a busier Guild. As it stands currently, the GoMe is mostly dormant, save for the tireless efforts of Guild Master Korov’ev. Not only has he been maintaining the Guild’s Google Calendar, but also the Facebook page, thus keeping all the GoMe faithful informed.

The new site will be a bit more streamlined, with explorers able to submit news, and the approval to be handled by both Korov’ev and Doobes (plus others if anyone would like to volunteer). We are also set up to offer translations of each and every post by anyone who would like to volunteer to do so. If you’d like your language added, let us know! Our support for the international community, as always, is unwavering, and GoMe 3.0 will be no different!

Note that, while the site is now live, there’s still a few bugs to squash, kinks to iron out, and informational pages to re-add. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to contact us.

In the meantime, enjoy the new Guild of Messengers site!
